Getting started
There are a couple of decisions that you need to make before looking into a reverse mortgage
Do I want to stay in my home long term?
A reverse mortgage is designed to help people stay in their homes. If this is not a home you want to remain in, selling the home might be a better option for you.
Does the "structure" of your home meet your needs, or can you modify to adjust to your needs?
For example if you live in a two story home, but can't handle stairs, you may want to consider other options. One of the options might be modifications such as a stairlift.
Is your yard too much? Can you hire a gardener?
Does a reverse mortgage meet your financial needs?
Once you have determined the first two items, we can look to see if an FHA insured or proprietary (jumbo) reverse will work for you!
Next steps
You are ready to find more, and take a look and how a reverse mortgage can fit into your life. Great! It's time to give me a call at (408) 315-2503.
We will go over some basic information, such as the value of your home, any mortgage balance that you may have, birthdates, etc., and set up a time to get together for a 60-90 minute meeting,
When we meet, we'll review your specific situation and what options are available. Please invite family, friends, or trusted advisors to the meeting, this is time for education and questions. Once this meeting is complete, it is time so sit back and think for a while. I'll follow up with you in 7-10 days, to answer additional questions, but then the timing is up to you. We can get a reverse done in 30-45 days, but if you are not ready, I'll stay in touch with you until you are!
